Why does my sonar look like this?

I had this same problem, all I can say is the wiring/connections has got to be the most finicky operation ever. I unplugged and replugged several times and finally got it to register. Multiple times now, every time was while I kept it powered up. I sent a complaint to Garmin about it.
 
Mine did this and it was a bad fuse. The fuse was not blown and looked fine that was the problem. You may just pop in a new fuse and see that that fixes it
