The deeper is a fantastic tool if you learn to read it properly. I want to share these two pictures with you.

I find the best readings are when you stop pulling and just let it sit, or use a boat arm attachment on a sliding bar, this gets rid of the wavey line on the bottom which is actually the waves on the surface and the deeper bobbing.

There's 2 decent sized catfish here and a group of 2/3 carp to the left.

I wouldn’t necessarily say they were catfish to the right, remember that the length on the screen data doesn’t relate to the length of the fish.

If you are floating the sonar on the surface and a fish is sat still or moving slowly it will leave a long piece of screen data.
A large fish moving quickly would leave a short piece of data and a small fish could leave a long piece of data if stationary.

I always look for the items with the thickest data as this does relate to the fishes size
